The Free International University of Social Studies Guido Carli – is an independent university. Luiss is renowned for its research activities aimed at generating knowledge and innovation, contributing to scientific debate, and benefiting economic, social, and cultural development from an international perspective. The Luiss Data Lab, under the direction of Gianni Riotta, is a research center that conducts basic and applied research in the field of Big Data and digital transformation. It employs a multidisciplinary, quantitative and qualitative, comparative approach, focusing on political, economic, and social case studies with tailored narratives and video graphics. The Data Lab is a partner in the Horizon 2020 project SOMA “Social Observatory for Disinformation and Social Media Analysis” (ICT 28d-2018 – Future Hyper-connected Sociality) and, with its director, Gianni Riotta, is part of the European Union’s high-level group, as well as a member of the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO) and the Advisory Board of NewsGuard. The activities of the Data Lab are supported by the European Union. Luiss Guido Carli University will be the coordinator of the project and will play a key role in planning and monitoring the project’s progress throughout its duration, managing the consortium, reporting project outcomes, and ensuring the quality of relationships. In particular, it will coordinate WP1-Management and Coordination and WP6-Communication, Dissemination, and Sustainability. Luiss will oversee and recommend improvements to existing research methodologies, carry out necessary basic administrative and administrative support tasks, and provide assistance. Luiss will serve as the venue for initiatives and provide infrastructure, research centers, researchers, and administrative staff.
